When I think of fall, I think of many different things…back to school, hoodies, s’mores, hay rides, and bonfires. I am reminded of the quote from You’ve Got Mail, “Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms. “
Fall is kind of a tough time for me. Although the changing of leaves and moderate temperatures are wonderful, I live in the Midwest and the days have now gotten obviously shorter and typically grayer. This means I know winter is just around the corner and that often brings a bit of the blues for me. I have a choice to choose joy and contentment each day. With that choice there are things that I can do to bring a bit of cheer to my home and one of those is changing the decor a bit for the season.
I love pumpkins, gourds, and mums, yet I enjoy a bit of a non-traditional spin on decorating for autumn as well.
