Back to School Interview

There’s no better way to record memories of your child than in his or her own handwriting and words.  I’m a sentimental type mom who loves to record memories either by video, pictures, or writing of what my daughters say and do. I have composed an interview that I plan to use every year at the beginning of the school year to see how my daughters are growing and changing each year.  It will allow you to look back one day and remember the little things that fade over time.  You can print the questions on any type of paper and either complete it yourself by transcribing your child’s responses or allow your child to fill it in.

My list of questions for the “Back to School Interview” is:

My name is…

My birthday is…

I am ___ years old.

I weigh ____ pounds.

I am _____ inches tall.

I write with my ______ hand.

My shoe size is _____________.

I have _________ teeth.

I have ____ people in my family.

My address is …

I go to school at …

My teacher’s name is …

This year I will be in … (what grade)

I want to be __________________ when I grow up.

My friends are…

My favorite food is …

My favorite song is …

My favorite animal is …

My favorite toy is …

My favorite book is…

My favorite drink is…

I like to go to …

My bedtime is …

The sports and activities that I like to play are…

I like…

I do not like…

My favorite thing I did this summer is …

This year I look forward to …

You can also trace your child’s hand and foot or use paint or an inkpad to make a print to keep with the interview.  Don’t forget to take pictures of the first day of school! Include not only pictures of your child but his or her new backpack, school supplies, lunch box, and anything else that will remind you of that first day of school.
