Hello friends. My name is Danielle Peters and if you’ve been visiting FLT for a while, well then, we are not strangers (I hope). I’ve been with FLT throughout this whole first year sharing with you my passion for God’s design for marriages. My disclaimer is that I’m not a marriage counselor or expert, a relationship scholar or a love guru. I am merely one who went my own way, stumbled into God’s way and wants to guide others along this rocky path of living a life of love with your spouse.
Since this is our ‘Favorites’ week, I thought I’d share with you a favorite poem of mine. On a Christmas shopping trip to local (and amazing) antique store, I stumbled upon a pair of these watercolors with the poem below hand painted on them. Between the beautiful blue watercolors, the silver frames, and these words, I knew these needed to come home with me, and they were given as a gift to my husband for Christmas. One hangs in our bedroom for us to see, and the other (shown here) hangs in our livingroom for all to see. I’d love to give the author/artist credit, but none is given.
Love is the Light I Live by.
Hope is a taper sweet.
Faith is a touch of glory.
But Love is drink and meat.
By Love men know His followers
For Love is His only test.
Love is the Law and Gospel.
Love is Life’s joy and zest.
Love and the stars swing with you.
Sweep hate out of the Arc.
All must be in the circle.
None may be in the dark.
Love is the Light I Live by
In me a thrilling power.
To dare me on in danger.
To guard each fearful hour.
Love is the fire of being.
Love is the oriole’s call.
Love is the shout of morning.
Love is the Life of all.
O try the Power of Loving.
Use Love each hour of day.
Trust Love, it will not fail you.
For it is God’s perfect way.
Don’t you just love those words? Is not “Love His only test?” It is the law. It is the gospel. It will not fail. It is God’s perfect way.
Here are some other favorite words about love & marriage….
