Hello my darling friends!
Long time no “see”! It’s been hectic around here, but I am so glad to be back with you!
I know I’m supposed to be talking about the Floral trend right now, but I thought you wouldn’t mind if talk about something else instead.
Fashion is fun, isn’t it? I, for one, am passionate about it. I love to look at clothes and shoes and all the beautiful things there are. BUT, the truth is, it isn’t really about what you wear. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I know that when you feel beautiful, it sure helps you feel good yourself. And there is a place for fashion in our lives. But beauty (and true happiness) isn’t found in high fashion, or the latest trends, or fancy makeup techniques or shoes. It’s not found in the hottest boutique, the bottom of an expensive perfume bottle, or in the soft folds of good quality cotton. You can search in “vain” and never find it there.
Happiness (and the kind of beauty that really matters) is found in the One who made you as perfect as you are.
Have you ever stopped and thought about all the amazing things you do as a woman? About how our bodies are capable to growing new life, our arms of easing away nightmares, our hands able to create and provide food for our families. I read a short inspirational story about what God said when he created women. Obviously, it’s fictional. But it so, SO beautiful. It talked about how we’re soft enough to offer comfort and strong enough to withstand what life would throw at us. I love these parts in particular: “(she must…) have a lap that can hold three children at one time and that disappears when she stands up,
have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart” and “She is soft…but I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish” ( Go here if you want to read the whole thing. I highly recommend it)
Sometimes, though as women we forget and we focus too much on things that amount to nothing when you think about what our propose is. And what we were created for. We think about how much more weight we can stand to lose, or how our butts aren’t perky enough, tummies flat enough, or our legs long enough. Sometimes fashion isn’t something that brings joy and something fun to pass the time with. It can make us insecure and feel inadequate. And we forget WHO made us. And HE doesn’t make mistakes.
Fearfully AND wonderfully made! Isn’t that something? Oh and by the way, He thinks you’re to die for…
Never forget that you’re not what the world wants you to be or thinks you should be. You’re made for more. You’re not just a mom, or just a wife, or just a (fill in the blank), you’re:
Today, I didn’t want to talk about all the many ways we can spend our money to look beautiful. I wanted to take this time to remind you how beautiful you already are! How treasured you are and how wonderfully made you are! My birthday is this Sunday. I am turning 27. I am, by no means “old”, but definitively older. I don’t mind getting older. I feel “prettier” with age. But it’s not the clothes I wore that makes me feel beautiful. That’s not what I remember and think about. I look back and see every time He helped me through, every moment I felt close to Him, every single time HE was there even though at the time I didn’t see it. And remembering all that fills me with awe at His love for me! For all of us! Remembering that He made me, 27 years ago, in my mother’s womb, made me to be just who I am today, exactly HOW I am today. THAT is what makes me feel beautiful.
And, I wanted to share the feeling. Because He made you too. And He made you pretty darn great 🙂
