Hey Everyone! It’s such fun to be guest posting again. Thank you so much for having me!!
I heart summer, but I’ll admit I’m NOT crazy about 90+ degree weather. I’m more of a 75-80 degree weather kinda gal. BUT, I do love what summer brings…long summer days, leaving the screen door open on those warm summer nights, sleeping in, drinking lemonade, catching the ice cream truck, and cooking on the grill outside. Did I mention sleeping in? Ahhh…
I’m here today to share some of my FAVORITE Pinterest Pins for this lovely season.
As the main event and sweets table stylist for my company Magpie Event Co., I must introduce you to one of my favorite online party sources. If you haven’t heard of it, you are really missing out! Its a little online shop called Shop Sweet Lulu. They have darling party decor and accessories, photos and inspiration galore.
To celebrate Independence Day, they have these darling cupcake liners. You can use these as they are intended for cupcakes, of course. Oh, but if you open them up and string them across a room or your table, the cuteness factor goes up by like 100.
In keeping with the Patriotic theme, this next one is one of my absolute FAVORITE desserts courtesy of Gina’s Skinny Recipes. We’re talking fruity, creamy, cakey goodness. It works beautifully for a family gathering–it feeds several people, its very simple to make, and it looks soooo pretty. Your family and guests will seriously be impressed. Oh, AND its healthy—ha, well…sort of. It’s a lightened up version of a berry trifle. Try it! It won’t disappoint; I promise!
My next favorite pin for summer is this gorgeous and decadent Coconut Cream Pie. The Cuban side of my family–well, we’re pretty much all coconut freaks. About a week ago, I had an insane craving for a coconut cream pie from Marie Callendar’s. Sadly (but probably good for the waist line), the one we had in our town closed down. This forced me to go on the hunt for a GREAT recipe for my favorite pie. Thanks to Pinterest, I found one!!! I can’t even tell you how good this is. You’ll just have to make it and try not to eat it all in one sitting.
I realize that everything I’m posting here has something to do with dessert. My apologies. I’m a sweets stylist. What do you expect?! =) So, in an effort to end on a healthier note, I’ll share with you something I’ve been making frequently as a side dish to a good grilled burger. BAKED zucchini fries.
Wait! Don’t flip out. Yes, it’s necessary to turn on the oven with these, and like most of us, I try to avoid it at all cost during the summer. BUT with all the zucchini growing in my garden, I have to get creative and do something other than grilled zucchini (especially if I expect my 18 month old son to touch it). This recipe is excellent–with or without the sauce. If you feel like trying the sauce, you can lighten it up by substituting the mayo with either nonfat greek yogurt or nonfat sour cream. When I’m not in the mood to make the sauce, I just put out a side of ranch for these babies and they are delicious. My son gobbles them up!
I keep staring at the picture above and my mouth is just watering. I guess this is on the menu for tonight! I hope you’ll give a few of these a try. After all, that’s what Pinterest is about right? =P
