Have you read Psalm 121 lately? If not, join me for a read of it now. Stop what you are doing. Put down your other distractions. Take 5 minutes to read this. Slowly. Carefully. Prayfully. Drink in its comforting words.
When you can’t figure out what to do next, when you feel lost and confused…
I lift up my eyes to the hills—
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
The Maker of heaven and earth.
When you are scared to step out on the ledge with Him or make a necessary change in your life…
He will not let your foot slip—
He who watches over you will not slumber;
Indeed he who watches over Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.
When you worry about your health, your family, your kids, money, your job…
The Lord watches over you—
The Lord is your shade at your right hand;
The sun will not harm you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
When you are in the desert season with Him, and you condemn yourself for not doing enough praying or being the best person God designed you to be…
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
He will watch over your life;
The Lord will watch over your coming and going
Both now and forevermore.
So forgive yourself. Or let go. Or trust. Or be obedient. Or be willing to change. Or whatever it is that Psalm 121 is gently leading you to do.
Our help comes from the Lord. Isn’t that simply amazing?
