When we chose the theme of restful waters for July, I knew immediately how I wanted to connect this to home decor.
Ever notice how spending time on or near water soothes the soul? The smell, the sounds, and even the colors encourage deep breathing and quieting of the mind. I have always believed God designed it be so. Our very bodies are comprised of water and we require it for our sustenance. It stands to reason that it would feed us spiritually as well.
I love to take pictures of water — at different times of day, as a backdrop for people and things I love. Did you know that your beach or lake photos can serve as a jumping off point for colors in your home? Colors that will soothe and inspire you and yours.
I recently discovered a Sherwin Williams online tool called Let’s Chip It. You simply upload a favorite photograph and it will generate customized paint chips, pulling from the colors of your photograph. Here’s an example of one of a sunrise beach photo I took in March.
Look at those magnificent colors– all right there in God’s creation.
Another example from the beach at midday…
And this one at day’s end…I love how it pulled the color of the parasail chute.
And another from a recent trip to Lake Rabun…
Would you have imagined so many shades of soothing watery colors?
The Let’s Chip It website allows you to save your photo’s paint chips into “chipbooks”, as well as to share them with friends.
All opinions here are purely my own. I have not been compensated by Sherwin Williams in any way, shape, or form to recommend this site to you. I simply believe it is a wonderful tool to bring beautiful colors into your home.
I hope you are enjoying a restful week near the water for the Fourth of July holiday!
Be blessed, Fancy Friends!
