If you have been around ANY kind of photography EVER, you have probably already heard the terms “manual mode” and “auto/automatic mode”. I touched on one of the basics of manual mode earlier this year, with my post on Aperture. But really, what is better about learning to shoot in manual mode as opposed to staying in automatic mode?
- Consistency: When using Manual mode, YOU are in control and the camera settings do not change until YOU do it. If you set your exposure to be contingent on your surroundings, you will get a good shot every time.
- Control: You can set your aperture and shutter speed separately, giving yourself more creative direction, and WAY more fun experimenting!
- Calming Down: When shooting in Manual, you have to think FOR the camera, which allows you to slow down, think about what you want to get out of a certain shot, adjust, and GO for it!
