i received my second beauty box 5 this week and decided that i’d better do a review of something from this box. there was some pretty fun stuff and these lash cards really intrigued me. i usually make an absolute disaster out of my eyelids when i apply my mascara and had high hopes for a cleaner process.
so here’s my attempt at a product review…
the lash cards are a cardboard square, with two sized arcs cutout of each end. one for a smaller curve and another for a larger curve.
this is me, sans makeup. well, technically i have put on foundation. so just me, foundation, and my trusty voluminous mascara that i’ve used since high school. okay, so not this same tube…obviously, but the same brand and curved wand. 🙂
my intention was to use the lash card on only one eye so we could see the difference. but after trying to bend the cardboard piece to fit on top of my eyelid, while holding it in place and then realizing that i really couldn’t even get to my lashes, it quickly became a problem. it was cumbersome and awkward to try and hold it there.
so i ditched the cards and went along on my merry way. a few good swipes and then some side-to-side action down at the base of the lashes makes for good coverage…
so even though i make a gigantic mess (see this? and it actually is a light day for some reason) i decided that it really is my way or the highway. and i prefer the country roads.
so since we’re here….how about i take you through the rest of my super quick makeup routine?
i use a wet q-tip to gently remove the access mascara.
one side for each eye. then a dry one to clean up the rest.
a good once over (and i mean ALL OVER, like i even blend down into my neck so i don’t have that crazy line at my jaw where my makeup stops) with my cream to powder foundation.
fill in my brows with an angled brush and two shades of eye shadow (a brown and a reddish shade to match my hair).
somedays i like to add liquid liner, depending on my outfit. today is one of those days.
and some blush for contour.
and that’s my everyday routine. quick, simple and easy.
i really wish the lash cards would have worked out, would save me a step or two. maybe my eyes just aren’t shaped right or something. or maybe if they had some kinds of adhesive, ya know, that didn’t hurt when removed but would stay in place.
but at seven bucks for 10 cards, it’s just not worth it for me. sometimes, change isn’t good.
happy weeks ahead!
