I seem to be of few words and many emotions these days. Instead of getting lost in words I just lay my heart out and seek. And in the midst of all of this, I keep thinking of one thing:
Today I feel at home.
Today my home is here.
“Home is where your heart is – it’s where you hang your hat.
Without a home you’re nowhere; and nowhere’s no place to be at.”
The Moochick, My Little Pony: The Movie
where my comfort is.
where my lazy happens.
where family hugs take place.
where my book worming can be found.
filled with laughter and the smell of coffee.
Home is wherever I make it.
Home is with my Jesus – wherever He takes me.
I have a wandering soul. I love to travel and to try new things. I rarely live in any one place for longer than a year (although I think I may stay put in Portland for a while – it’s kind of awesome here) and I always tell people that I’m The Master Packer. I packed up my last apartment in less than eight hours… and I used bubble wrap. Everyone has a gift and I think packing is one of mine.
The past couple of weeks have been a whir of excitement and when I finally get some quiet time before bed I can’t help but think that no matter where I am I’m home.
I’m never alone – my family and my Jesus are with me always.
I’m never lonely – Jesus is always with me when I want to talk.
I’m rarely sad or forlorn – I have too many blessings to be down about any one thing.
Home is where you should feel safe.
Home is where your heart feels the most full and your soul is at ease.
In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8 (NIV)
My home lies not in the trappings of the walls that men have built,
but in the heart of the One who gave his life for me.
