science fascinates me even though i possess a deep faith in God.
i do not hold science in comparison to God’s creation, but as a testament to it.
science, in my opinion, boasts of our great God.
once the May theme “Take Heart, Daughters” was set here at Fancy Little Things, i began to ponder the scientific research surrounding pregnancy and the life-giving properties that our female bodies are blessed with. it intrigues me so much how God granted us the power of reproduction. what began as dust and breath became a life-source, free to join and multiply.
just like Adam and Eve, God created us in His image, within His heart, then held us back from formation until it was the right time. and when He did begin to form us, He started small…
you see, a female is born with her one and only supply of reproductive eggs. it never replenishes. it can never run out, either, given there are approximately 6 or 7 million of them. those eggs form around the 20th week of gestation; the halfway point. so when your grandmother was about half-way through her pregnancy with your mother, you were already “in the picture.” isn’t that amazing?
now think hard on this.. your grandmother also carried her daughters when she was in her own mother’s womb. as did her grandmother, and so on.
it’s almost incomprehensible
it’s infinite, just like Him.
it is confirmation of likeness, lineage and life.
this little detail can open your mind to the truth of who you really are. beloved you were chosen, not from a few, but from several million. you were placed in an enormous multitude with the sole purpose of being singled out in due time. you had virtually no substance, certainly no cognition (yet), but you were there. God knew exactly which one you were and was knitting you together in perfect step with His plan. He could have created only you, but He desired to create you specifically among millions of other beings that would most likely never come to formation. why?
i’d like to believe it is because He longed for you to know you are special and uniquely you, in every aspect of your being. He wanted you to be infused with the truth that you were carefully and precisely formed among many, and that nothing should ever shake your confidence.
because while you were virtually invisible to the world,
He saw you and loved you.
when the world becomes heavy and too much for your heart to handle, go back to this truth and claim your place in His plan.
you are a daughter; not only of your mother and father, but of our Father in Heaven,
and your faith in this will heal you, just as He tells us it will.
