Ever feel like your anxieties are ruling your life?
Lately I’ve been noticing that I feel anxious all.the.time. I’ve struggled with anxiety for a long time, but recently it has become the ruler of my life. And I hate it.
I think many times we justify our anxiety and just let ourselves worry instead of changing our mindset…
Everyone worries.
I have a reason to feel anxious.
I can’t change my situation.
I’ll stop worrying when the circumstances are different.
and so on.
But even if we are in a tough situation, the Bible explicitly says not to worry. In fact, Philippians 4:6 says not to be anxious about anything.
Paul, the author of Philippians, doesn’t just leave it at that and expect us to never worry, however. He offers us a pretty great alternative to anxiety: pray.
First Peter 5:7 says that we can pray to cast our anxiety on our Creator, for He cares about us. He cares about our anxieties and our worries and our concerns and He is far greater than them. He wants to hear about them and to be your Comfort {1 Cor. 1:3-4}.
I know sometimes simply praying doesn’t feel like enough. So, when you are in need of comfort and relief from your anxiety, cling to the promises of the Lord – Psalm 119:50 says that God’s promise can preserve our lives.
And try to remember that worrying does not change anything {Matthew 6:25-34}, it just steals our joy and distracts us from our Comforter.
You are wonderful and you can conquer any and all anxiety you face! You are already a conqueror through Christ {Romans 8:37}.
