Ladies it is that time of year again where we are bombarded with reminders of how greatly blessed we are and much we are called to give to others. God specifically says we who have been given much, much is expected of us (Luke 12:48…I may be out of context on this verse). 1 John 3:17 states
“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?”
We cannot have all these wonderful things yet not share.
Have you ever thought how your fitness could help another?? Yes it can in this day and age! There are apps, races, and other ways you can help others in need this Thanksgiving/Holiday Season
1. Feed people with your sweat.
Okay not literally, plus that would be nasty. BUT Charity Miles (free app) is a great way to get your miles in (burn that turkey, pumpkin pie…um oreo ball….who else can never stop at just one of those marvelous treats?!?! Sister don’t leave me alone on this one!) You can determine which charity you want your miles to go towards. The more miles the more money! Score! It doesn’t matter how fast you do it, all that matters is that you do it!
2. Sign up for a Race
Just a 5k is totally fine! You have the Jingle Bell Run which goes towards Arthritis research. Some churches do 5ks for their Operation Christmas Child event!
Check out this site for more races around you!
3. Donate your fitness clothing.
Sports Bras…you may want to refrain from donating, but everything else from yoga pants to t-shirts can easily be donated for others to enjoy and feel the burn (or simply just warmth) in.
4. Donate your used running or athletic shoes.
Many people across the world lack access to a good pair of shoes. Being a runner (okay former but on the mend runner) I have compiled numerous pairs of running shoes. There are many organizations that will willing accept them and give them to a person who really needs them.
Are these the only options? NO! Get out in your community and check out how you can help locally, nationally and on a world level! Happy Giving!!!
