Welcome to the Winter 2013-14 Quarter here at FancyLittleThings!
It took me two days last week of rearranging three rooms of our home to finally make a decision on where to put our Christmas tree this year. Meanwhile, my friend Aimee, who is a Mom, business owner and in the process of freshening up an adorable, little cottage for her and her family, just seems to whip up incredible new graphics for our quarter in no time at all. Always fresh. simple. perfect.
The inspiration for our theme this quarter came when my brother was sharing with me the meaning of this year on the Jewish calendar. The Jewish calendar began with Rosh Hashanah on September 4th. This is year 5774, Ayin Dalet, and the meaning of the Hebrew characters can be translated to mean “open doors”. I’ve always loved the richness of the Hebrew language as I’ve studied the bible. If it interests you too, you can read more about the translated meaning here.
As doors open, we must all ask ourselves some questions. Am I ready to leave the comforts of where I am to seek what God might have for me? Am I willing to walk outside of my own limitations and trust God can do more through me than I could ever imagine?
There are many of us in the FLT family who are experiencing life-changing, comfort-leaving, God-trusting things in our lives. This theme fits us right now. Maybe it fits you too.
We begin this quarter just as Advent starts and we prepare ourselves to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus tell us he is the door (John 10:9). He is the one who came to bring us out of the places we find ourselves and into the places God has for us. Which brings us to our theme verse for this quarter…
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. – Luke 11:9
Wherever you are, it isn’t where you need to stay. Jesus came to offer us a better way. A way back to God. Let’s find our way to Him together this quarter, shall we?
We have some new authors this quarter!! I asked them each to share 5 quick statements to describe themselves.
