The biggest part of this challenge seems to be the two main points that are continuous for the entire 30 days…
- You can’t say anything negative about your husband…to your husband or to anyone else about your husband.
- Say something that you admire or appreciate about your husband…to your husband and to someone else about your husband.
This was an easy week to shower Dave with appreciation and a good dose of bragging as he spoiled me over Mother’s Day weekend. There was time to myself to go garage saleing, an afternoon away to get pedicures and coffee with friends, and even a late-night sundae run to kick my craving for something sweet. Not to mention, he has been helping me with a couch and loveseat reupholestry project that isn’t his “cup of tea” but he does because he loves me (and because I had no shot of getting those old, stripped screws out myself!). Not one thing went unnoticed. I was very lavish with my words of praise and appreciation.
While he is always good at doing these types of selfless things for me, especially in the last few years of our marriage, I’m surely not always good about recognizing and thanking him properly. I do wonder if my continuous encouragement has spurred even more of his willingness to serve me and our boys lately. Perhaps it is too soon to tell the full effect of the challenge just yet.
There were several daily challenges this week that hit on a sensitive area of our lives right now. Dave has been working as a contractor for the past 3 years and announcements were made last week that his project would be finishing up by the end of July. The Lord has given me a lot of peace about the upcoming uncertainty, however, I am trying to be very sensitive to how this change is affecting Dave. The days that had me show my appreciation for his work, to praise the character qualities that make him a fantastic employee and recognize his wonderful financial leadership focused my encouragement on an area I really feel he needs my support right now.
