are you ready to learn how to gallery wrap photos and save a bunch of month?! i thought so!!
for less than $13 i gallery wrapped TWO art boards… some lovely chevron fabric AND my son’s 12×18 photo.
TOOLS
1″ x 2″ x 8 feet from Lowe’s was only 89 cents {we cut 2 frames from this}
garage tools: staple gun, small sander, wood glue & any type of saw {hand saw, table saw or chop saw work great}
PHOTO: i used a 12×18 poster print from WalMart’s 1 hour photo. it cost less than $9, was ready quickly & the heavier weight of the poster paper made it very easy to wrap onto the wooden frame.
FABRIC: cut 2 inches wider & longer than your frame to account for wrapping. the fabric was less than $9/yard from Fabric.com.
BUILDING THE FRAME is a piece of cake!
cut wood pieces for the frame / glue & staple corners together
my frames were made with 2, 14″ pieces and 2, 8″ pieces
STEP #1: cut fabric about 2 inches wider & deeper than the frame
STEP #2: start by stapling opposite sides first and tug when stapling to ensure a tight fit
i used 2 staples in each corner, 3 staples on the short sides & 5 staples on the long sides.
STEP #3: wrap the end pieces like a present by tucking in the top side and then folding up. i used an iron on the fabric to make a really firm crease. for the photo paper, i just pulled and pressed using my fingers to avoid a major crease or breaking the photo.
STEP #4: enjoy!!
