It’s easy to get discouraged along the road to our destiny. We get tired. We get weary. We wonder if and when the day will come when we will finally step into God’s plan for our life. We wonder about our destiny… we wonder if we are truly destined for anything at all… Some of us even get to the point where the mere mention of the word “destiny” makes us snicker and scowl. Some have become so jaded by struggles and obstacles faced along the way that the word “destiny” is viewed as nothing more than a fairytale-la-la-land dream we conjured up as little girls. We laugh because we think we know what the real world is and the idea of us being “destined” for anything let alone something great seems naive and even a bit foolish.
But I am here to tell you – you are destined for greatness!
Yes YOU!
You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t!
God made you with a very specific purpose in mind.
The reality is that HE wants what is best for us. HE has a plan for our lives.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Would you say that saving someone’s life is a “great” thing? Well… you have the opportunity to save lives every single day! Right where you are at… in your job… at the store… even in your home. How? By being you. By being a light in this world filled with darkness. By opening a door for a little old lady. By offering a listening ear to a co-worker who needs to vent in the lunch room. By being kind and treating others as you would like to be treated.
Fix your eyes on Jesus and become a willing and able vessel for Him to work through and you will begin to encounter opportunity after opportunity to pour into people’s lives – right where you are at!
You never know how your simple acts of kindness impact people. If you open your heart and allow God to guide your steps He will begin to send you to people to encourage them, pray with them, maybe even just give them a hug. You may never know the effect you’ve had on their life, how offering a hug to a random woman at the grocery store helped save her from committing suicide because she felt like nobody in the world even knew she existed let alone cared for her… but God knows. I’ll say it again, God knows! He sees the big picture… He IS the big picture. He is simply waiting for each one of us to stop living in fear and start living in favor! His favor.
That sounds pretty GREAT to me… What do you think?
Look at Jesus. Sure He preached to the masses but He lived His life walking among the people. Sitting with them… dining with them…never judging but always offering compassion. He poured into their lives one at a time. He reminded them that they were not alone. He reminded them that regardless of their circumstance and/or status in life HE loved them and HE had a very special plan for them.
Each one of us is called. Each one of us is destined. Each one of us has a special purpose that only we can fulfill. But it is up to us to press forward and press into God… to seek His face … to go after the calling God has on our lives.
Your life may feel like a desert at times but if you allow God to pour out His blessing and favor you will begin to burst into bloom becoming the person He called you to be! A woman of Greatness! A woman who doesn’t overlook the seemingly small details in life because she knows the details are critical in the final picture of God’s beautiful masterpiece…
“The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom;” Isaiah 35:1-2a
