There are two things that I absolutely love when it comes to editing my pictures of my kids- black and whites and close ups of their faces. I don’t know why, but there are just some photos of them that seem more powerful to me that way! I want to remember their little faces, their features- so maybe that explains the close ups! Today I am going to show you a few photo edits to demonstrate this…
Let’s take this photo of Kenley. Nothing totally extraordinary, just her at a birthday party for some friends.
That little scrunch face is her new trademark! But, the rest of the photo is somewhat distracting. Here is the edit:
With a little crop and changing it to black and white, this photo becomes SO much more powerful! Her face just pops, the distractions are gone, and it’s more about her and not what is going on around her.
Unfortunately, I broke one of my rules and FORGOT to save the original for this photo- oops. BUT in the before, it wasn’t zoomed is as far, and Brayden’s toys/legs were showing. Her face was just too cute to NOT save this picture, so I cropped the distractions out.
It is easy to over-edit- and I am definitely not a professional when it comes to editing. Trust me, I have a lot to learn. One of my personal goals for the next 6-12 months! 🙂 I just have a few personal preferences.
How wonderful that now in the digital age, we can “save” our photographs! What is your favorite photo edit? What do you find yourself doing when editing your own photos?
