Why do we so often feel alone?
I mean there really isn’t any experience any one of us has that someone out there hasn’t experienced as well.
It is the enemy who tries to convince us that we are alone. He knows it is the environment that allows him to press lies and temptation down on us. Even Jesus experienced this taunting when he was alone in the desert (Matthew 4:1-11).
One of the areas of our lives where we can feel alone is in our marriages, particularly when they aren’t going so well. We think the situation we are in, or the difficulties we are facing, or the feeling we are experiencing, are unique to us. Worse, we think that they are somehow too shameful to share with others.
But for those of us who have experienced God’s grace rescue our marriages from the brink of ruin, many of us have also received His divine courage to share our stories, to teach what God had the mercy to teach us, and to witness to the rewards of a marriage under His design.
Like Peter and John said, “As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:20)
