Sometimes I just need help. I’m at a loss for words, thoughts, and am just out of energy. And with so much still left to do in any given day, it’s easy to forget my spouse, forget his needs, wants, and desires. Or forget what he’s worried about, stressed over, and feeling guilty about.
And while I know the power of prayer and have felt the presence of the Lord around me when I know others are praying for me, it’s hard to remember to pray for my spouse. So I’ve been using this list, this cheat sheet if you will, of verses that can help me prayer for my spouse. Because there are times I know I want to spend time in pray, spend time talking to God about my husband, but I don’t know where to start.
Ever feel the same way? Let’s start here and see where the conversation leads, I’m betting it will be powerful:
–when dealing with stress: Philippians 4:4-7, 2 Chronicles 15:4, Psalm 46:1, 1 Peter 5:7
–when dealing with physical pain: Psalm 57:1, Isaiah 43:2, Isaiah 40:31, Psalm 18:2
–when tired: Psalm 51:10, Galatians 6:9, Philippians 4:13, James 1:2-3
–when angry: Ecclesiastes 7:14, Ecclesiastes 7:8-9, Ephesians 5:26-27, James 1;19-20
–when disappointed: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Colossians 3:2, Joshua 1:9
–when confused: Job 2:10, Deuteronomy 8:5, Galatians 1:10, Ecclesiastes 3:1, Isaiah 41:10, Proverbs 3:5
–when happy or thankful: Psalm 69:30, 1 Chronicles 16:8, James 1:17, Psalm 30:12
–when direction is needed: Lamentations 3:25, Isaiah 12:2, Isaiah 30:18, Jeremiah 29:11
–when needing peace: Psalm 56:3, Psalm 62:1-2, 2 Chronicles 20:12, John 16:33
You know what would be even more powerful than just praying these verses for your spouse? Praying them for your friends, your family members, your work colleagues, your neighbors, and even strangers. There is power in His name, don’t be too busy to go to Him.
