2 friends. 3,000 miles apart.
Danielle & Aimee / Summer 2012 / Painted Post, NY
Danielle: I mentioned to Aimee over a Facebook message that I’ve made some amazing new Mom friends. They are bright, entrepreneurial, inspired-and-inspiring. We’d started a little group to talk about dreams and share ideas. And oh, how I wish Aimee was still close by. She’d be the perfect addition to the group.
Aimee: I am definitely jealous of Danielle’s new group of friends. Being a military family we move around a lot — and Danielle was the ideal friend with drive, spirit, spunk and loads & loads of ideas. At the same time, I loved sharing photos of my little silly DIY projects and potty-training successes and little lists that inspire me… and people wanted tutorials and how-to’s and a way to refer back to my old Facebook posts without scrolling. I had designed a few blogs but had never written one. I wasn’t even a blog-reader. I thought, “I can write a blog, but I can’t write more than once a week.” So, I called a few friends with my idea…
Danielle: I’d heard of blogs, but wasn’t really a follower of them at the time. But the idea to do something with Aimee, and to have a place to share my passion for God’s design for marriage in a way where I could minister right from where I am as a stay-at-home Mom, was all very interesting. So, I said SURE!
Aimee: So planning began. With a private Facebook group and several phone calls to friends across the country, we began piecing together Fancy Little Things. When I bought the website name a few years before I felt called to do something greater than myself. To use it as a place to share the “Fancy” in my life with others…. to work with Danielle was a treat; she is truly amazing. I could not have asked for a better friend to go on this journey with.
And here we are two years later, simply AMAZED at what Fancy Little Things has become!! The seedling of an idea that budded into little blog on March 20, 2011 has blossomed into a online Christian community with the same vision as always…to inspire. to encourage. to uplift.

THE FAMILIES OF FLT HAVE GROWN!!
Most of our Admins and Authors are also Mothers! We are each balancing the demands of our life with our passion to share & serve through FancyLittleThings. But, a well-used line around FLT is “family comes first!” And the families of FLT have grown this year!!
One particularly amazing story to share here is the faithful journey of our beloved Social Media Guru, Christie. After one amazing adoption story of Christie & her husband being blessed with their daughter Moriah in 2011 (you can read it all here!), they’ve been on another amazing journey to adoption in just these last few weeks. The story of how they came to know about this potential adoption, the process of being selected as the adoptive family, and God showing His faithfulness as they needed to raise $35,000 to cover the costs in a matter of weeks is truly amazing. That is the only word to describe it, and you can read more about their journey here.
SOME PERSONAL SUCCESSES TO SHARE!!
Danielle’s post from September called 7 Ways to Be Your Spouse’s Best Friend has been the most visited post on FLT this year with over 829,000 pageviews to date and still hundreds, sometimes thousands visiting each day. It was even featured on KLOVE radio during Valentine’s Day week giving it national attention outside of Facebook & Pinterest.
Another big hit for Danielle this year was her 72 Hour Club Series.
Kate shares her simple kitchen creations here on FLT, but talks about a lot more on her personal blog, www.kateelizabethconner.com. A year ago this week, she posted Ten Things I Want to Tell Teenage Girls on her blog and it exploded! With celebrities tweeting her post, she racked up over 2 million hits in just two weeks. Next thing she knew, there were publishers calling and our Kate will be publishing a three book series on “10 Things” with Broadman & Holman Publishers (LifeWay Christian Resources) slated for September 2014.
KariAnne’s personal blog, Thistlewood Farms got a HUGE recognition as Country Living magazine’s best decorating blog in their Blue Ribbon Blogger Awards contest!!
Krissy relaunched her personal blog space, Not aLone Mom in November where she teams up with other amazing women to encourage women through motherhood and life, and let each Moms out there know…she is not aLone!
Aimee launched her very first personal blog space in October called, Small Anchors. It had some immediate success with great posts like, 20 Mom and Son Date Ideas and her Friendships Sucks series.
We are so excited to see what God has in store for Fancy Little Things this next year. Will you join us?
