Do not fear… Mod Podge!

Hello! I’m Amy from Mod Podge Rocks, pleased to be here with you today to help you tackle learning how to Mod Podge. Have you noticed how it is more difficult to learn things as you get older? I’ve been knitting for 20 years and I can’t imagine learning it now. But the truth is, we can always learn new things if we put our mind to it. Maybe not how to drive a space shuttle or anything, but definitely crafts!

One thing I love about Mod Podge is that it’s great for a beginner and it doesn’t take long to master. With a little practice, you can be Podging with ease – and this Halloween lacy skull frame is a great place to start. You should watch my videos and then give this frame a go. You’ll be glad you did, because you’ll have a fun project AND a new skill under your belt. Here’s how I made it.

Gather These Supplies

• $1 wood frame
• Mod Podge Matte (you can use Gloss too)
• Halloween scrapbook paper – one skeet
• Martha Stewart Acrylic Paint – Purple Yam
• Jolee’s Boutique Lacy Skull with Rose Dimensional Stickers
• Paintbrush
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Craft knife and mat

Flip the frame on its front on the back of the paper and trace with the pencil. Trace the inside and outside of the frame.

Cut the paper about 1/4″ inside the border on all sides. You can use a craft knife and mat or scissors – it’s up to you. Set the paper aside.

Paint your frame completely. Technically you only need to paint the edges on the front, since the paper will be covering a lot of it. Let dry.

Place a medium layer of Mod Podge on the front of the frame. Place the paper onto the front, center and then smooth. Smooth, smooth, smooth with your hands (I use a brayer). if Mod Podge comes out the sides, don’t worry – just wipe it away with the brush. Don’t Mod Podge over the paper at this time – let it dry first for for 15 – 20 minutes.

After the paper has dried, Mod Podge over the top of the paper. Let dry and then give the entire frame a coat of Mod Podge. Let that dry.

Attach the stickers and rhinestones to the frame with craft glue. Even if the stickers are adhesive, add craft glue anyway to make it more secure. Let dry before using.

Now place a crazy picture of yourself in a wig inside the frame and enjoy.
